I am a quilter discovering the art of the quilt.
Quilting has been a part of my life for about 20 years now. I started quilting when my first daughter was born and favored traditional designs and hand stitching. I loved rescuing orphan blocks and discarded quilt tops from flea markets or antique shows and finishing them in a quilt to be used and loved.
About three years ago, I became intrigued with contemporary art quilts. After attending a several workshops from wonderful teachers, I have challenged myself to see what a quilt might be-when I add my own hand and ideas to it. I dye my fabrics, use freehand rotary cutting and improvisational design. Right now , I am taking advantage of online classes and call this the year of technique trying to gain as many new tools as I can.
This is just the beginning. I have many things to learn. Join along. Leave a comment. I'd love to see what you are doing.
