Why would we want to label ourselves? You simply are who you are, and hopefully that is not the same as who you were last year or who you will be next year. Labels are stagnant. People are not.
Just my 2 cents worth on the topic.
:) SharonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5807898112368371627.post-54084232774336172032010-05-20T14:30:36.717-04:002010-05-20T14:30:36.717-04:00mmmm....me thinks you are right. all this learning...mmmm....me thinks you are right. all this learning kind of overwhelmed me and i needed to box it in somewhere. I don't have a problem saying the word quilt, but there always seems to be definite opinions on that, which I understand. It seems to me textile artist or quilt artist both require more explanation as to what the terms actually mean.Gail Baarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00833256306047584176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5807898112368371627.post-23152362407339023342010-05-20T00:58:09.362-04:002010-05-20T00:58:09.362-04:00Just saying the words, "I am an artist",...Just saying the words, "I am an artist", is a BIG thing. It took me nearly 50 years to say it and a few more to be comfortable saying it.

Now the term I prefer for what I do is "textile artist". My rationalization is the techniques and some materials I incorporate go beyond the tradition of quilt making.Nellie's Needleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12468773469685787840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5807898112368371627.post-20532984878453477152010-05-19T11:10:55.509-04:002010-05-19T11:10:55.509-04:00You are an artist and I knew what your response wo...You are an artist and I knew what your response would be!
